When hospitals in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa\u2014where children with cancer were undergoing treatment\u2014came under bombardment, we helped facilitate their evacuation to safety. To this end, a working group was established under the auspices of the Institute of Oncology, involving teams of oncologists and pediatricians from various hospitals, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Health. Our association, \"Life Without Leukemia,\" is also a member of this team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over this period, we identified more than 200 families with children suffering from cancer or other serious illnesses and provided them with necessary support. Through the <a href=\"https:\/\/global.stjude.org\/en-us\/featured\/safer-ukraine.html\">SAFER UKRAINE<\/a> program, and with the backing of partners in the USA, Italy, Poland, and Romania, we developed operational procedures to ensure these children received the help they needed\u2014whether in hospitals in Chi\u0219in\u0103u or in other cities across Europe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our efforts have also been recognized by the authorities. We were proud to receive a letter of appreciation from President Maia Sandu for the support provided to Ukrainian refugees\u2014particularly children with cancer\u2014as well as a certificate of appreciation and gratitude from the Mayor of Chi\u0219in\u0103u.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We successfully secured:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Access to specialized diagnosis and treatment in the Republic of Moldova for child cancer patients who are refugees from Ukraine<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Accommodation for refugee families with children suffering from cancer or other chronic conditions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Legal, logistical, and psycho-emotional support for refugee families with children facing oncological and other chronic conditions;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Safe transport and transfer for patients selected for treatment abroad (Romania, Italy, Poland, etc.);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Receipt of humanitarian aid intended for refugee families and its distribution to beneficiaries (clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, baby food, non-perishable food items, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>De la \u00eenceputul conflictului din \u021bara vecin\u0103, Asocia\u021bia \u201eVia\u021ba F\u0103r\u0103 Leucemie\u201d a oferit suport \u0219i asisten\u021b\u0103 copiilor refugia\u021bi din Ucraina cu afec\u021biuni oncologice.
